Instead of working on our current outdoor project, the sky opened up on Sunday and rained us out. So I stayed inside and made as much jewelry as my little fingers could manage!

My personal favorite, it’s a multi-layer sort of vintage-exotic piece. I love it! I had four elephants total, but since I’m quite partial to symmetry I took the last one and made a very simple necklace from it for a more low-key piece.

This one was fun for me, because I linked each bead/bead set together by hand with wire wrapping. It was the first time I had done this. On the blue piece below, which I made after this one, I perfected a better technique to ensure the longevity of each link. I may go back when I have another rainy day and re-construct this one.

The very-hard-to-photograph blue piece! I loooove these blues so much! Makes me wish I had more blue hues in my wardrobe! I also made a matching pair of earings because I had exactly two of the big glass beads left.

That’s it for my rainy-day-crafting! =D
This is the corset that I’ll be wearing under my wedding dress next month (April 18th, woooo!) It’s a halter-top dress, so I made an underbust corset for it. It’s a pretty casual wedding, ocean-side, so really the corset is much more elaborate and ‘wedding’ like than the dress. But I love it anyway. As does my soon to be husband
Enjoy!

And last, but not least, a self portrait while I was working on it.
I made this beauty this past weekend and boy was it a challenge! Each link was manually and painstakingly attached to the next with just my handy pliers (and my handy-hands!)

I made this little gem last night while watching the first two episodes of The Inbetweeners that finally aired on BBC America. I must say this is by far my favorite so far!

This is the creation that made it on the Best of Craftster 2009 list, but I was just reminded that it never made it to the blog!
Pogo, my darling kitty, has had a few problems with his inability to control his need to shred toilet paper. So to help him in his recovery, I made a little cover that wraps around the roll with holds on tight with a button and elastic closure.
(Awww, isn’t he adorable? Sigh…. )
So this is what I created in about an hour!

I’ve recently fallen in love with the two and three tiered type necklaces, but haven’t found too many in the store that I actually approve of. So I cracked my knuckles and entered my first adventure of jewelry making!
I love the black one, which turned out great! The light colored one wasn’t exactly what I was getting at, though. The seed beads were a lot more copper than they are brown, which is what I was expecting. It turned out great still!

I’m a Craftster Best of 2009 Winner!
Wow! What an honor it has been to have gotten one of the Craftster Best of 2009 awards! I got it for my cat-proof toilet paper cover, so Pogo was a huge help in this matter. I’m totally flattered!
Now that the cats are out of the bag, I can post a few things I crafted for Christmas. My favorite was the tile coasters! I made four sets, one for my dad, step mom, grandmother and grandfather. They all seemed to really like them, and couldn’t believe they were hand made! I was very satisfied with their receiving! I put on about three layers of Modge Podge, and about three coatings of acrylic sealer. Here are the sets I made:

Here they are, all dolled up and ready for gift giving:

I also made this, for my oldest niece. She (with her mother’s help) picked out the ninja monkies. It’s a soft fleece pullover, with hood. Aside from the fact that it was clothes and not toys, she seemed to like it!

I also made some beeswax and honey soap for my mom, sister, and step mom, but for someone reason I totally blanked out and forgot to take photos! A few things didn’t get made in the rush of the holiday season, including a guitar strap, a completed scarf (1/2 done), and a pair of socks (3/4 done). Time to finish those up, I’d say!
Ahhhh most of the stitching and crafting is done for the holidays. I’ll post pictures afterwards (don’t want to spoil it for anyone before they get their gifts!) For now I’m dreaming about the projects I want to work on after the holidays. In no particular order….
- Martha Stewart’s lip gloss recipe
- Leather(ette) guitar strap
- Leather(ette) and houndstooth corset (this is going to rock!)
- Curtains for pretty much every room of the house!
- Work shirt for mike (got a pattern picked out! Yay, Burda!)
And who knows what else! I’m excited!
